IDF2022-0761 Discrepancy between interstitial glucose and HbA1c in people with HIV compared to people without HIV in a Zambian cohort

Diabetes is reported to be more common in people living with HIV (PLWH). There not an internationally agreed screening method for diabetes PLWH due reports that HbA1c falsely low this group. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has been used explore and discrepancy. Its role identification of dysglycaemia known data from Southern Africa are scarce. To the relationship between interstitial glucose, including discrepancy these markers glycaemia, a cohort without by serostatus Lusaka, Zambia. Participants were purposefully recruited clinic Zambia as part nested study within larger study. CGM, Dexcom G6, worn up 10 days measured. Bland Altman plot was assess agreement CGM derived surrogate termed ‘glucose management indicator’ (GMI) presenting mean difference bias. This performed on anti-retroviral treatment ≥6 months HIV. Bland-Altman demonstrates two methods –5.9 mmol/mol (95% limits –16.4–+4.6) –5.5 –13.4–+2.3), p = 0.9. Figure 1 displays plotted against sensor reference line generate GMI.
